Mommy Likes Lotus Bebe Bamboo Blankets

Lotus Bebe Bamboo Blanket

My son has a “kie kie” which is his term for “blankie”. I didn’t chose this specific blanket and I am really uncertain as to where it came from originally.  It’s a cheap polyester (yet soft) blanket with those silky edges and as much as I HATE polyester anything I can’t bear to take it away from him.  So when I learned about these great Lotus Bebe Bamboo blankets at The Glass Baby Bottle I was so intrigued. These blankets are really lovely and soft and have a pretty dark chocolate silk edge around the whole blanket.

These gorgeous blankets are made with ultra soft bamboo fiber, and if you have ever felt anything made with bamboo fabric you’d know how really soft it is.  The silky edge is made from 100% natural silk and is just as, if not softer than it’s synthetic counterpart. They come in a range of soft colors and are the perfect “kie kie” size (30 x 30 inches).  Perfect for snugging up with or for cuddling in the car.

The wonderful folks at The Glass Baby Bottle are offering one of our readers a chance to win one of these awesome blankets.  If you haven’t been to The Glass Baby Bottle before I encourage you to do so – they have a great range of products geared to a non-toxic life.  From bottles to clothing to toys to safe art supplies and even organic mattresses.  They have a great selection, fair pricing and are really great family people. I love supporting “mom and pop” establishments!

Mommy Likes: Cool Gear Travel Potty (giveaway)

Cool Gear Travel Potty

Having a newly potty trained child, I was forewarned that he’d find the need to show off his skills at every single public bathroom in America.   And of course, this means in areas where you not only lock your door, but where stopping at red lights is merely a suggestion, or in an area where there’s no bathroom for miles and miles.  I thought about buying one one of our current potties and keeping it in our car, but with two strollers and a bin full of emergency supplies, space is at a premium.   My friend came across Cool Gear Travel Potty, and ordered one to have on hand when they made their monthly trip out to her in-laws.    I figured she could be the guinea pig and I’d let her daughter be the test driver, and if it was good, I’d order one myself.

Cut to last week, we were at the park one day, and my son was frantically doing “the dance” and adamantly telling me he didn’t have to “go.”   I knew by the looks of him, we’d never make it to the other side of the park where the bathrooms were.   Thankfully, my friend came to the rescue with the foldable travel potty.

I simply took him to a secluded area nearby, quickly set up the potty and let him do his business.   She totally saved the day!!

Needless to say, I’ve since ordered one to have on hand for long car trips.  Or trips to the park.

The travel potty contains everything you need, for on the go potty use.  It folds up compact and unfolds easily.  The handles for kids to hold onto are actually the baggie compartments.  Simply open up one of the sides, grab a bag and snap it in under the seat and you’re ready to go.

One small drawback is that the hole is a little on the small side, so if your kid is a little older, this may pose a problem, but overall, it gets the job done when you’re traveling or in emergency situations.

We’re happy to have one travel potty to give away to one lucky winner.

Mommy Likes the Haba Sunshine Mobile

Haba Sunshine Mobile

Before my son was born, I bought the token battery operated mobile to hang in his crib.   He only liked it for a brief period of time, until it came loose and fell on top of him.  He wasn’t so much a fan of it after that.   When my daughter was born, I did have a battery operated mobile for her crib, but I wanted something to hang over her changing table that was more appealing visually, rather than over sensitizing in movement.   I’ve loved Haba’s products for a long time, and this one was perfect for a little girl’s room.

When my daughter was weeks old, the mobile put her in a curious trance.  Unable to focus on the mobile itself, the slow blurry movement soothed her.  She watched intently.   When she was old enough to see it clearly, she smiled at it during diaper changes.   As she got older, she cooed and laughed at it.  I’d spin it for her, and make the flowers talk, and she’d squeal with delight, “talking” to her friends as they spun by.

While I’ve had to adjust the height on it, so she doesn’t rip it off the ceiling, she still loves her Haba mobile.  At 10 and a half months, she pointed to it the other day, and said “fowa.”

I love that this mobile has given her so much joy over the last year, and that it has required nothing to make it run.  I love that we have our little moments together, “talking” about the flowers and making it spin around.   I love how durable it is and that even when she’s older, I’ll still be able to hang it on her ceiling as a decoration, and remember the memories we made together.

While this one is a bit girly,  Haba makes quite a few mobiles to fit the decor of any baby’s room.   And I’m truly remiss that I didn’t get one for my son when he was a baby.  I know he would have loved it just as much as she has.

GET IT: Pick up a Haba Sunshine Mobile at Baby Oliver’s Boutique or on Amazon.com!

Mommy Likes b.box Essential Baby Box (Giveaway)

The Essential Baby Box by b.box

I want to introduce you to a great product by b.box. Any mom will tell you that changing a diaper while out and about can turn into an ugly scenario in a heartbeat.  You have the baby on one of those gross Diaper Depot’s at the store and you’re digging around in your diaper bag for a diaper, the wipes, all the while baby is wiggling around and you are trying not to get poop on everything you touch when you realize you need a little diaper cream and you have one hand and your bag fell on the floor and a toy slipped out…. you get the idea and I am pretty sure you have all been there!

The Essential Baby Box eliminates this whole “digging around for” situation by making everything you need ready and available in one compact case.  The box looks much like a portable wipes box but it is so much more.  You open the box up and inside you have a clean wipe-able mat to lay baby on.  On top of that, a spot for diapers and a flap to hold them in place. I also fit a good size tube of diaper cream in there too.  The other side holds your wipes, which are accessible from both inside the case and also when the case is close you can rip out a wipe for those nose pickers or sticky hands when you need one in a pinch. The Essential Baby Box is BPA, PVC and Phthalate free and made of durable and washable materials like polypropylene.

Want to hear something gross? For my baby shower my mother gifted me with a most fabulous Coach diaper bag. With it comes a tri-fold mat to change your baby on.  Nice right? No…it’s a fabric pad and image baby poop + wiggly baby on fabric with a foam core = ew.  Needless to say that’s long gone.  In it’s place is a Baby Box.  For review, b.box sent me their Essential Baby Box in the Falling Leaves design.  Before, I carried a big changing mat, a diapers and wipes bag and had diaper creams and balms floating around in my bag in various compartments.  Now it’s all secured up in one place which takes up a third of the room in my bag, not to mention my diaper bag weighs less now too.

Get Your Own: You can purchase b.box at Green Mom Place!

WIN IT!

One lucky reader will get a b.box Essential Baby Box in Falling Leaves from Green Mom Place

Mommy Likes Baggino’s Learner’s Bib (Giveaway)

Baggino's Learner's Bib

Is your kid a messy eater like mine?  My first son wasn’t so bad… I never needed more than a good bib and a wet washcloth to get through a baby food feeding. My second son though – food gets everywhere.  On him, on the, on the tray, on the floor, and on ME. But the biggest pain of all is having to change his entire outfit every time he eats.  That was until I checked out Baggino’s Learner’s Bibs.

Baggino is a company started by a mom and dad who travel a lot.  They started to design baby gear that made traveling (or not traveling) with kids a little easier.  They have designed amazing travel diapering bags/belts (they are really pretty genius) as well as their award winning Learner’s Bib.

For review I received a Baggino Classic Learner’s Bib in light blue.  There are several things I love about this bib.  One, it’s really soft.  Like cuddle want to sleep in it, soft.  Two, it fits baby perfect and has plenty of room for him to grow into the sleeves.  I am fairly certain he’ll be able to wear it well into his terrible two’s.  Three, it has great coverage.  No more stripping baby naked for meal time.  You slip the Learner Bib on and he’s protected from mashed peas and spaghetti sauce all the way to his knees.  It’s lightweight so he won’t get hot in it either.  Plus he’ll looks cute.  See?

Get A Learner’s Bib: You can pick up one of these great bib’s online for $12.50 at Baggino.com!

Mommy Likes Bebe Au Lait Reversible Double Bibs (Giveaway)

Bebe Au Lait Reversible Double Bib

I’ve been a long time fan of the Bebe Au Lait company.  I got myself a Hooter Hider back when I was pregnant with my first son.  That Hooter Hider is still in my diaper bag right as I type this.  One of my most used and valued possessions.  I did and still use it pretty much everywhere I go.  So when Bebe Au Lait contacted me to review one of their new products I was totally psyched.

Hooter Hiders started in 2003 when Claire Ekelund needed a way to stylishly nurse her daughter in public and there were very few options.  Hooter Hiders became an overnight sensation and soon, her and her husband expanded Hooter Hiders in to Bebe Au Lait and added many great and useful products to their arsenal.  They have stylish and practical items like burp cloths, hooded towels, their famous Hooter Hiders and adorable Family Ties jewelry for mom and baby.  Bebe Au Lait sent us their great Reversible Double Bib in Mint Chocolate  to try out.

What a great invention, seriously!  Now that my little man is well on his way into messy baby food, I am always on-the-go with a stockpile of food and eating tools.  Before, I’d shove 3 or 4 bibs in my diaper bag taking up half the room in the bag.  Now I just carry my Bebe Au Lait bib because its like having 4 bibs in 1. Whats so genius is, you put it on, use it.  Then next time you need a bib you just overlap the clean part over the top of the used side.  And you can reverse it and do that 2 more times.  It utilizes magnetic closures so putting on is a breeze and flipping it to a clean side is super quick and easy.

This is a great item for traveling (hello 4 bibs in 1) or for moms on the go, like me.  I have a 4 year old so I am constantly shuffling from one place to the next and need supplies at my side every day.  Like my Hooter Hider, this is one of those baby gear items you don’t want to be without.  They are totally machine washable and wash up great…no misshapen weirdness to deal with.  Comes out of the dryer clean and flat and ready to go back into my diaper bag.

WIN IT!

One lucky reader will get a Bebe Au Lait Reversible Double Bib!

Mommy Likes aden + anais Muslin Blankets (& Giveaway!)

aden + anais Classic Muslin Collection

I received a set of aden + anais muslin blankets as a gift when I was having my second baby last July.  At first I thought they were really nice.. loved the bigger size and the thin breathable quality of the fabric.  What I didn’t know, was that these were going to become m absolute favorite baby item I own.  Now 8 months later, I still use them every. single. day.

The large size – much larger than conventional baby blankets – make these perfect for swaddling.  I don’t know about you but trying to swaddle a baby older than a month in a baby blanket is a test of my patience.  With the aden + anais muslin you don’t have that problem because they’re big for one, but they were created with swaddling in mind.  Muslin is a great fabric for swaddling … it keeps baby secure and warm without overheating since air can circulate better than dense fabric.

But aside from the swaddling benefits, these turned into a multipurpose necessity in my diaper bag.  I’ve used them as a burp cloth, play mat, a nursing cover, a changing pad, and I’ve used them to shade my little guy from the sun while in his carrier or the stroller.  Muslin is thin so it is great for warmer temps.. it keeps baby in the shade while they allow air to flow through, keeping baby nice and cool.  Folded up however, this can turn into a warmer blanket to keep him snuggled up in his car seat.  So many uses!  I keep one in the car,  in my diaper bag and I have the other two around the house for something to grab when I need it.  Trust me, they are worth every single penny.

I cannot sing the praises of aden + anais more than I do.  But don’t believe me? Ask SafeMama Statia, she adores them too.

Statia weighs in:

When I first saw these, well after my first baby was born, I knew if I ever had another baby, that I’d want a set of these.  And when I got them, I was so impressed with how soft they are, and how BIG they are.  I brought them with me to the hospital, because while those nurses are pros at making a baby burrito out of those tiny swaddling blankets, I am not as adept, and I always worried that they’d overheat.  I got TONS of compliments on them both in the hospital and well after my daughter was born.  We also still use them every day.   My daughter loves to cuddle up with one at night and I love that it keeps her warm enough at night, without overheating her.   They came in very handy shading her during the hot summer days, and no doubt they will be perfect for the air conditioned car this summer too.   Once she outgrows them, I’ll definitely be sure to keep them in the car to use as an extra set of blankets for the kids, as they take up little room.   These are a must have for every new mom.

WIN IT!

I am SO excited to be able to offer 4 pack  set of aden + anais from their Classic Muslin Collection. One lucky lucky winner will get to choose the pattern they want and take it home.  Thank you aden + anais for the fantastic giveaway!

Mommy Likes Episencial Sweet Dreams Bubble Bath (& Giveaway)

Episencial Sweet Dreams Bubble Bath

I was introduced to SproutBaby recently which is a cute online shop that is dedicated to bringing you a selection of eco-friendly baby products, ranging from skin care to diapers.  All with the health and well being of your baby and the environment in mind.  SproutBaby is the “brain child” of a group of parents and professionals that wanted to create an online space where parents can shop for safer options.  As they grow, so does their body or product options!

A new line of skin care for babies and kids has emerged called Episencial, founded by Kim Walls. Her goal was to create a line of skin care that met the rising requirements of parents seeking safer products – affordability, environmentally friendly and safe for our babies. Utilizing juice extracts instead of fragrances, manufacturing under solar power with sustainable materials. I do want to note that this isn’t totally chemical free but it is free of parabens, phthalates and propylene glycol.

First things first, price point. For $8.99 (versus $12-$14 for something like California Baby) this is much less harsh on the wallet for something that gets sucked down the drain, literally.  There is definitely a market for safer skin care in an affordable price range.  The Bubble Bath comes in an 8oz recyclable bottle and it’s in a concentrated form so a little goes further than most natural bubble bath products.  I never get any real bubble action from some of the safer bubble baths, but that isn’t the case with Episencial Sweet Dreams Bubble Bath. We get great bubbles and it has a very light citrusy floral scent – nothing overpowering. My son loved all the bubbles and got a big kick out of the Tiny Caterpillar art on the bottle. He asked me if there was caterpillars inside the bubbles. :)

GET IT: You can order The Sweet Dreams Bubble Bath and other Episencial products on SproutBaby.com!

Mommy Likes Mama Bears Kind Signs (Giveaway!)

Kind Signs Stroller Sign

I wrote about a great product on SafeMama.com recently called Kind Signs Stroller Signs. I was lamenting about how strangers LOVE to touch my baby and since then I was recently caught out and about without my Kind Sign and a woman came up and touched my baby’s face and hands when I wasn’t looking. (I thought my mother was going to have a coronary.) I will never again leave the house without my Kind Sign.

Kind Signs were developed for this very reason. You can hang them on your stroller, carrier, shopping cart, cribs, diaper bag or anywhere your little cutie is sitting to gently let people know you’d rather they not touch your baby. Keep your germs to yourself people!  Each sign is large enough for people to read easily and is a nice way of saying “hands off”. The signs are made of silicone which is BPA, PVC and Phthalate free so if baby happens to get his mitts on it’s not the end of the world.

WIN IT!

Mommy Likes Boon Grass Drying Racks (& Boon Giveaway)

Boon Grass Drying Rack

My counter turns into a mess in a hot minute at my house.  I spend 45 minutes cleaning up the day after the kids are in bed.  Which means doing dishes, hanging artwork on the fridge and cleaning baby toys and bottle parts.  Of course you could wash all your little bottle parts and sippy cups and dry them on a towel but what’s fun about that? I picked up a Boon Grass Drying Rack recently and it’s a nice addition to my counter without being a wet towel eye sore.

Boon Squirt

Conventional drying racks are usually too widespread to hold all the little pieces of bottles and sippy cups, and fall through.  The Boon Grass Drying Rack is neatly spaced “grass” so even the smallest valve or bottle part rests neatly so it will dry fast.  And it looks stylish!  Boon’s Grass Drying Rack is also BPA, PVC and Phthalate Free!

Mommy Likes all the Boon products actually.  We use the bath toys every night… especially their Water Bugs and Odd Ducks.  We’re also a big  fan of the Boon Squirt baby food dispenser spoon.   It makes feedings quick and easy… and when we’re done, baby plays with it!  Stuff that makes our life easier while looking modern and stylish is a great buy in my book.  All their products are BPA, PVC and Phthalate free too so you know you’re getting a safe product to boot.

GET IT: You can pick up a Boon Grass Drying Rack, or other Boon items in several places, including The Soft Landing (Mommy Likes The Soft Landing!), Target and Amazon.com

We’re giving away a Boon Squirt spoon in Orange to a lucky reader.
